The Becker Bulldog boys basketball team lost their first regular season game of the year on the road against Waconia Tuesday night.
The final score was Waconia 66, Becker 48.
Waconia’s PJ Hayes led all scorers with 19 followed by teammate Sam Nelson with 13.
Becker’s Brandon Gustafson was the Bulldogs’ top scorer with 11. He also had two blocked shots and six rebounds.
The Wildcats jumped out to a lead and by halftime, they held a 36-24 lead. The Bulldogs repeated the 24 points in the second half and Waconia kept the pedal-to-the-metal by scoring 30 points for a comfortable win.
Becker shot 33% from the floor while Waconia shot 42%. The Wildcats converted 11 of 18 free throws while the Bulldogs were nine-of-17.
Becker scoring: Gustafson 11, Justin Kringler 8, Lucas Dertinger 8, Caleb Quernemoen 8, Cade Callahan 5, Josh Fobbe 3, Jordan Ulbrich 2, Travis Myers 2 and Sam Koubsky 1.
Waconia scoring: Hayes 19, Nelson 13, Collin Spotts 9, Ryan Biehn 7, Nick Fulford 6, Alec Olson 6, Henry Jacobs 3 and Ben Hester 3.
