SENIOR LOGAN BOYER secured Becker’s first-ever win over Monticello Thursday when he scored with 10 minutes left in the second half to give Becker the 3-1 win.

Boyer Secures Win Over Monticello

The Becker Bulldog boys soccer team netted their first win of the year in their first game, beating a tough Monticello Magic team at home Thursday night by a score of 3-1.

The win was Becker’s first-ever win over the Magic in the team’s history, said Head Coach Alex Jurek.

Evan Epperly drew a penalty kick in the 15th minute and sophomore Jordan Gruenes put the penalty kick shot in the back of the net for the game’s first score.

A short while later on a corner kick, senior Captain Qadry Fakhreddine played the ball into the center of the pitch and Gruenes quickly returned it to Fakhreddine for a one timer.  Fakhreddine’s shot just beat the Magic goalkeeper to the right side of the goal and the Bulldogs had a 2-0 lead.

Monticello fought back and on a direct kick, the Magic got on the board with 10 minutes left in the first half.

In the second frame of the match, Logan Boyer took a pass from Tate Weise at around the 10 minute mark and from the top left corner of the 18, Boyer netted his first goal of the season to give the host team a big win.
