Becker hosted a Granite Ridge Quadrangular Track meet Tuesday which included teams from Mora, St Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman.
Girls Track
Madison Kerzman and Lexi Dehmer both were double winners for Becker. Kerzman won both the shot put (32'7") and the discus (96'4 1/2") and Dehmer won the 1600 meters in a personal record time of 5:24.90, the 800 in 2:34.3 and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x400 relay.
Other runners on that relay were Payton Anderson, Kayden Westin and Sam Angell and their time was 4:29.0 ,which is a season best.
Angell took first place in the 100 hurdles (16.74) and her time qualified her for the Minnesota HS Honor Roll. Angell also placed second in the 300 hurdles (51.33) while Shannon Sydow was fifth.
Julia Bengtson won the 3200 meters in a PR time of 11:45.80, just beating teammate Alli Hendrickson (11:47.30). Both girls are on the Minnesota HS honor roll in this event along with Dehmer. Also in the 3200 meters, Victoria Kolbinger placed fifth with a PR time of 12:56.5.
Anderson turned in a second place performance in the 400 meters (68.58) and Kayden Westin third in the 200 (29.84).
Alex Johnson won the high jump with a leap of 5' and Morgan Youngdahl placed fourth (4'8").
Hannah Schmidt won the pole vault at 8'.
Relays saw Becker taking first in the 4x800 (Alayna Lindquist, Hendrickson, Courtney Nuest, Allyna Storms-11:02.93); second in the 4x200 (Johnson, Westin, Anderson and Sydow 2:00.25); second in the 4x100 (Lexi Michels, Youngdahl, Johnson, Sydow 56.25) and first in the 4x400.
Team scores: Becker 72, Mora 56.5, Zimmerman 30.5, St Cloud Cathedral 27.
Boys Track
The boys won their second meet in a row, scoring 73.5 points. Second place was Mora with 54, Zimmerman had 34 and St. Cloud Cathedral had 24.5
The boys 4x100 team consisting of Gabe Dertinger, Alex Meidt, Austin Hemmelgarn and Kevin Andres won with a time of 45.66. The 4x200 team finished first with a time of 1:35.15 (Andres, Dertinger, Andrew Davalos and Sidney Boros). The 4x400 team also took first place with a time of 3:45.3 (Davalos, Andres, Boros and Matt Davalos).
Dertinger also won the 100 meters and Hemmelgarn was third. Andrew Davalos won the 400 meters and Boros barely edged out Andres by .19 seconds in the 200 to go first and second.
Another great race was the boys 300 intermediate hurdles. Matthew Davalos won the event, edging out Hunter Golden by three hundredths of a second.
On the field event side, Dillon Radunz won the shot put (48'4") and disc (122' 6") with Dawson Thom taking second in discus at (112'7") and third in the shot ( 38'9.5").
“It wasn't the nicest of days, but I was really pleased with how well our athletes competed and performed,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt. “We have a great group of guys who are really pushing each other and are working well as a team this year.”
Bradley Scheely added a second place in the triple jump with a personal best of 39'2" and Hemmelgarn picked up a third place in the long jump 18'7.5". William Schendel finished second in the pole vault with a10' jump.
