THE BECKER SWIM AND DIVE TEAM lost at Ogilvie/Mora Thursday but the girls are improving each week as they prepare to compete at True Team in a couple weeks and sections in November.

Becker Swimmers And Divers Sink To Ogilvie/Mora

The Becker Bulldog girls swim and dive team traveled to Ogilvie Thursday night and lost by 33 points.

Ogilvie/Mora 109, Becker 76
Emi Quill continues to improve her diving score and received a 228.20 for a first place finish.

Sarah Woelfel and Paige Mohs placed second and third for a sweep of the diving event for Becker.

Melody Swanson qualified for sections in the 100M butterfly.

“It's always hard to travel to another venue and swim your best but going to Ogilvie is even a bit harder as it is a meter length pool,” said Head Coach Tina Tamm.  “While most would think that that is really not that big of a deal, in reality, it is.”

Tamm says when her squad trains many hours in a "home" environment, they tend to have all of their strokes timed out and they know where the walls are for every length they swim.

“Adding that 2-1/2 yards to each length can mentally and physically make teach swim difficult,” she said.

The team is at the mid point of the regular season and Tamm feels her girls are starting to “up the yardage” at practice and looking ahead to training for the section meet.

“Dual meets are practice races for the section meet and as we, of course, want to try and win those - the big picture goal is how the girls finish at the section meet.”
