Becker grad, Rositas, breaks state deadlifting record

Max Rositas, a graduate of the Becker High School Class of 2021, recently broke the state powerlifting record, in the deadlift category.

Rositas said that he got into powerlifting when his friend encouraged him to give it a try, and he has been practicing the sport for the last two years. He has only been to two meets in the sport, the second, and most recent, meet taking place during the last week of January. Rositas competed in the 18/19 age category and broke the state record, landing him a place at the national competition.

The National Competition will take place July 8 in Las Vegas. Rositas says he is looking forward to training for the meet and improving his skills, and looking forward to training for next year’s competition as well.

“It’s a sport that I enjoy, and I can improve a lot,” said Rositas. He went on to state that he aims to land a spot on Team USA and compete internationally someday.

In the meantime, Rositas, fresh out of high school, is still living with his parents as he pursues an Associate’s Degree in arts at St. Cloud Tech. He also works part time at the Jimmy John’s in Monticello.
