THE BECKER BLUE FIFTH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM captured third place last weekend at home, going 5-1. Becker Blue Takes Third Place In State Tournament

The Becker fifth grade girls youth basketball team captured a third place finish in the MYAS State Basketball Championship Tournament (Division B3) last weekend in Becker.  
 
After losing their first game to Westonka by one point (30-29) and realizing their season was on the brink of being over with another loss , the Becker Blue team battled back to win their next five games in nail biting fashion.  
 
The next game for Becker Blue included a two-point overtime win against Andover, 31-29. They then beat Farmington, 20-19. 
 
The roll continued as they beat Brainerd, 27-22. In a rematch with Westonka, the Blue team got their revenge with a six-point win over their rivals, 33-27.
 
In the third place championship game, the Becker Blue took on Cambridge-Isanti White and notched a 33-30 win after trailing the entire game. The Becker Blue girls squad gave everything they had in the final minutes to secure the win and a third place trophy. 
 
The Blue are coached by Shaun Rose and Kirsten Voller.
 
The team consists of Brianna Jenkins, Kayla Brandt, Avery Johnson, Kaylyn Patnode, Alexa Voller, Alexis Rose, Natasha Berthiaume and Norah Fitzpatrick.
