B-BL high school hockey looking for sponsors

Even with the Fall sports season just starting, the organizers of the Becker-Big Lake hockey program are already making preparations for the upcoming season.

The organization is divided into three separate boards, each with its own mission to support the sport of hockey in the Becker and Big Lake communities.

The B-BL Ice Association exists to support efforts to build an ice arena for the programs, while the B-BL Youth Hockey Association is charged with supporting all of the youth programs.

Then, there’s the B-BL Blue Line Club (BLC) which serves as the booster club supporting the B-BL Eagles, the combined Becker/Big Lake high school team.

This coming season, the B-BL team is projected to have nearly 40 players in grades 10-12 playing the sport, and the team is not currently fully funded by the two school districts.

This means that the BLC is made up of volunteer parents that help to fundraise and support the team.

According to club organizers, they have started a dialogue with the schools and look forward to working cooperatively to create a pathway to gain financial support for the future.

For the upcoming season, the volunteers are busy raising funds to help pay for transportation, coaching, uniforms, ice-times fees and other program-related expenses.

The BLC is grateful towards a number of businesses who have already pledged their sponsorship and are always looking for more. Business owners are asked to contact the BLC at BBLHSBlueLineClub@gmail.com if they are interested in being involved with the program, with a sponsorship deadline of September 30.

The group has also planned a Halloween themed event to be held at Pebble Creek golf course in Becker on Saturday October 28th from 7pm to 11pm. Tickets will be sold ahead of time for this adults only event which includes food/snacks, DJ music, raffle/silent auction items, and a costume contest for best individual and best group costume. This event will benefit the high school team and is being sponsored by Cornerstone Concrete and Restoration, Becker MN.  Tickets are available online at www.EventBrite.com.
