Leigh Holman, of Sunset Ridge Ranch located near Clearwater, participated in the MN Horse Expo with her 17 year old horse SR Asti +. His breed is half Arab and half trakhener.
Holman’s group did breed demos Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26-27). Demonstrations included the parade of breeds and demo horse for the Bemer blanket, which is a type of therapy blanket designed to improve blood flow and circulation in horses and feels like a blanket to the horse.
The annual horse MN Horse Expo has been held the past 44 years and is sponsored by the Minnesota Horse Council. The annual event is usually held at the Coliseum on the grounds of the MN State Fairgrounds, but due to construction the event was held at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, MN this year.
The event featured many speakers, trainers and clinicians speaking and educating on equitation, horse training, care and maintenance, as well as free pony rides.
Many booths at the horse expo featured a variety of items for sale from equine-related merchandise, clothing, jewelry and much more.
