The Becker Bandits baseball team got their season off to a good start with a big win over Dassel-Cokato last Friday night.
The Bandits collected 10 hits and 16 walks in the 12-6 win.
Mathew Moe started on the mound for the Bandits, throwing five innings to earn the win. He scattered nine hits, surrendered five runs and recorded three strikeouts. Weston Schug threw four innings in relief, giving up five hits, issuing one walk, surrendering one run and recording four strikeouts.
The Bandits’ offense was led by Schug, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI’s. He also earned a pair of walks, stole one base and scored twice.
Moe went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s. He tallied three walks and scored a pair of runs.
Dalton Fouquette went 1-for-5 with two RBI’s. He earned a walk and had a stolen base. Matt Krenz went 1-for-4 for two RBI’s while notching a pair of walks and scoring twice. Connor Rolf went 1-for-4 with an RBI, earning two walks and scoring a pair of runs.
Cam Fischer went 1-for-5 with an RBI, notching a walk and scoring a run. Kreeden Blomquist went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a walk, a stolen base and scoring two runs. Nick Dinius was credited with two RBI’s as he recorded two walks and scored a run. Ryan Hess earned a pair of walks and scored one run.
The Saints Alex Terning started on the mound, he threw 2-2/3 innings, giving up six hits, issuing six walks, surrendering five runs and recording four strikeouts. Michael Leffler threw 4-1/3 innings in relief, giving up three hits, six walks, four runs while recorded seven strikeouts. Trent Thinesen surrendered four runs on four walks and John Hohenstein gave up one hit in one inning.
The Saints collected 14 hits, led by John Hohenstein, who went 3-for-5 and tallied an RBI, stole two bases and scored a pair of runs. Tyler Brandel went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI’s while scoring a run. Thinesen went 4-for-5 with a double and scored one run. Gus Flick went 2-for-4 with a double while scoring a run and Jordan Flick went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI’s.

The Bandit’s first league games are coming up next weekend. June 1 they play at the Monticello Polecats at 7 pm and then their home opener is Sunday, June 2 at 4 p.m. vs the Clear Lake Lakers.
