Andres 5th, Myres 8th At State In Track

Becker track stars Kevin Andres and David Myers each competed in the state track and field meet last weekend at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Andres captured fifth  in the 400M and Myres eighth in the 300M hurdles and 11th in the 110M hurdles.

It turned out to be a record setting day in the prelims with Andres breaking his previous record from last year with a 49.40 second 400M.  That time was good enough to give him the fifth place seed going into Saturdays finals.

David Myres also broke his previous record in the 300M hurdles by running a great race and finishing with a time of 39.66 — which put David into the finals for Saturday as well.  Myres also competed in the 110M hurdles earlier that day but failed to make finals finishing 11th out of the 21 runners in that event.

Saturday, both Andres and Myres ran well and made the podium to receive medals with the other top athletes in the state.  Andres ran a 49.50 time to claim fifth place in the 400M and Myres ran a 40.04 to finished in eighth place.

“It was a great year for these two and they should be really proud of what they accomplished,” said Track Head Coach Paul Schmidt.
