Adeline Kent recognized as top BB player

Becker Bulldog Adeline Kent was recently recognized as one of the top players in Minnesota’s Senior class, meaning she is on the watch list for the 2022 Miss Basketball title.

Kent’s name was one of 29 that was shared by the Miss Basketball Committee when they announced their list in early February. The list will soon be narrowed to five finalists and the winner will be announced after the conclusion of the state tournament.

“Addy was selected as one of the final 29, which is a great honor,” Becker coach Dan Baird said. “She’s got a great resumè and many accomplishments.”

Baird went on to note that during Kent’s tenure on the team, she has been named All State twice, as well as Honorable Mention during her Freshmen year when she averaged 16.8 points per game.

She has a 94-14 career record as a starter, which translates into an .870 winning percentage. In addition, the team is 54-0 conference play during that time, with Kent being named M8 All Conference the last three years.

For her career, she has 1713 points and counting, as the Bulldogs head into the final week of the regular season. During her time on the team, Becker has a 7-1 record in the state tournament, including qualifying for three state title games.

In reflecting on this honor, Kent says she is focused on the rest of her Senior season, but still grateful for the recognition.

“I am very grateful to be nominated for this award... it’s exciting to see all the hard work I have put in pay off,” Kent said.  “The relationships I have built through basketball have been unique and very special.”

Next season, Adeline plans to attend the University of Tampa to continue her basketball career.

“I chose the University of Tampa because it’s a great school and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the culture the team creates,” Kent said. “Also, I am excited to get out of the snow and into the sun!”
