Two Becker High School girl athletes are playing hockey with the Princeton Tigers girls hockey team.
Junior Ellie Schwartz and sophomore Dani Slominski play high school hockey with Princeton High School. The team’s record so far this season is 10-3 and is on a three-game win streak.
Slominski (starting defense) has seven points on the season with one goal and six assists. Tuesday against Totino Grace, she had an assist.
Ellie Schwartz (starting forward) has eight points on the season with four goals and four assists. Against Totino Grace she had two goals and two assists.
The team is coached by Paul McElhone and they play in the Mississippi 8 Conference with teams from Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/Pine City, North Wright County River, St. Francis/North Branch, Rogers, Buffalo-Maple Lake and Chisago Lakes.
After starting the season 1-1, the Tigers went on a six-game win streak in November and early December. They lost two games in a row to fall to 7-3, but have since won three, including two shutouts to improve to 10-3 and lead the conference.
This team has a big goal of making it to the state tournament, which is looking achievable after each game.
The Tigers’ next game is Dec. 27 in Princeton at 7 p.m.
