ONE OF THE FOURSOMES ON DAY TWO met with the starter on hole #10. The weather was a little cool Wednesday, but overall the tournament had decent playing conditions. 16 Schools Compete At State Golf Playoffs

 
Pebble Creek Golf Course again hosted the Class A high school boys’ and girls’ golf tournament last week.
 
Rachel Halvorson, a junior from Lac qui Parle Valley, won the Class A individual championship for the second consecutive season on the girls side. Brett Reid was the individual medalist with a two-round score of 145 for the boys. 
 
Girls Golf
 
BOLD, Olivia, won the Class A team title for the second time in three seasons with a two-round total of 704. That was one stroke better than runner-up Park Christian, who was at 705. Lac qui Parle Valley, the defending Class A champion, was third at 720.
 
Team members of BOLD were freshman Kaylie Fennern, junior Olivia Hanson, junior Lanie Mages, freshman Leslie Snow, junior Makayla Snow and junior Ashley Trongard.
 
Halvorson won the individual gold medal with a two-round score of 160. That was one stroke better than Fillmore Central senior Madison Scheevel, who was runner-up at 161.
 
Park Christian senior Emily Doeden was third at 162. Scheevel placed sixth in 2018 and  Doeden finished in a tie for third. 
 
Boys Golf
 
Community Christian, Willmar, recorded a three-stroke victory en route to winning the Class A crown at Pebble Creek. The Eagles won the championship by finishing with a second-round 327 and finished with a final score of 655. That was three strokes better than Springfield, which was second at 658. Fertile-Beltrami and Lac qui Parle Valley tied for third with scores of 676.
 
Team members of Community Christian were sophomore Karl Chapin, senior Zac Patlock, sophomore Daniel Reid, senior Greg Reid, sophomore Brett Reid and senior Duke Snyder.
 
After leading the field following a 72 on Day 1, Reid turned in a 73 for a four-stroke victory. He finished third overall in the 2018 state tournament.
 
Lac qui Parle Valley senior Harrison Patzer was runner-up with a 149. He had the best final round of Day 2 with a 72. Park Christian senior Alex Iverson was third with a score of 154. Springfield junior Mason Kretsch was fourth overall at 155, while teammate Mavrick Winkelmann, a sophomore, and Heritage Christian Academy senior Kurt Lambert tied for fifth at 157.
 
Pebble Creek Golf Services Manager Ian Holmes ran the sign-up area and scoreboard while a crew of cart girls and boys raced around the course taking care of team’s needs. Dwight Lundeen again chaired the event and he had several “helpers” as well as the tournament went off without a hitch. 
 
Becker police reserve officers managed the parking lot and helped shuttle visitors to and from the golf course to the overflow parking at the Becker Community Center and high school.
