12 Man Team Wins Back To Back Championships For Pebble Creek

The Pebble Creek Fall Men’s Golf League concluded their season this week while many of its members helped the MPGA 12-man team beat Emerald Greens for the championship.
 
12 Man MPGA Match Play Championship
The Pebble Creek MPGA 12-man team hosted the team from Emerald Greens in Hastings in the second of two home-and-home championship matches. 
 
Pebble Creek defeated Emerald Greens 13-5 to win the series 21-15.  
 
The MPGA 12-man match play consisted of teams from Como, Phalen, Emerald Greens, Riverwood, Pebble Creek, Deer Run and Dwan.  Pebble Creek defeated Riverwood 22.5 to 13.5, then beat Dwan 15.2 to 2.5 and finally Emerald Greens 21 to 15.
 
Last year, Pebble Creek won the MPGA 16-man match play championship.  This had never before been accomplished by Pebble Creek and with the victory this year, it gives Pebble Creek back-to-back championships.
 
Members of this year’s team include Allen Novotny, Dustin Kantorowicz, Dwight Lundeen, Dan Olson (540), Eric Gohdes, Doug Zimmerman, Greg Mattson, Ryan Isaacson, Jerry Vetsch, Steve Whittaker, Dan Olson (teacher), Dave Landreville, Lonnie Fluck, Mel Doherty, Chad Mathews, Dave Stanz, Mike Sogard, Jackson Fluck, Alex Stanz and Mike McCann.
 
Fall League
Mark Bertrum and Greg Konerza fired a strong four-under par net of 32 in the final week to capture first place in the Pebble Creek Men’s Fall League with a season long score of -33 under par.  
 
Wayne Yarke and Doug Zimmerman started the day down by one stroke and shot their highest round of the season with a 37 to fall to second place, six strokes back.  
 
Dan Olson and Nate Doimer tied for the low round of the day with a 32 to capture third place at -24, beating out Erik Olsen and Tom Keller, whose 33 dropped them into fourth, one stroke behind.
 
Banquet
The Pebble Creek Men’s Club held its annual end-of-the-year banquet where they recognized this season’s champions and announced the year-long award winners.   
 
The year-long awards went to Most Improved Player – Ted Crowe; Rookie of the Year – Jackson Fluck; Player of the Year – Greg Mattson.  
 
Champions were: Club Champion - Jerry Vetsch; Club Champion -Net - Bill Timmerman; Tournament of Champions Winner – Allen Novotny; Classic Match Play Champions – Todd Hanrahan and Chad Matthews / TS Lee and Paul Raetz; Individual Match Play Champions – Allen Novotny / John Dinsmore; Senior League Champion – Bill Timmer;  18 hole MVP – Chad Matthews; Fall League MVP – Mark Bertrum; nine-hole league champions – John Hardekopf, Brad Roesler, Jeff Benda and Steve Perry.
