Celebration of Life will be at a later date at Bridgeview Assembly of God in Big Lake for Richard Lee Shanks, age 73, of Becker who died Friday at his home in Becker. Rev. Steve Royalty will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Santiago Township. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Richard was born January 26, 1952 in Brainerd to George and Della (Swartout) Shanks. He married LaVanne Duerksen on July 27, 1974. The couple lived in St. Cloud and moved to Becker, in 1993. Richard was a Steam Fitter/Welder for Excel and enjoyed target practice, flying in his powered parachute, and fishing where he received a Master Angler Award in Manitoba, Canada.

Survivors include his wife, LaVanne of Becker; children, Jenae (Bret Talbott) Shanks of Florida; Jason (Kelly Lynn) Shanks of Foley; Bob Shanks of Becker; grandchildren, Samson, and Chloe; brother, Gene (Vicky) Shanks of Brainerd. He was preceded in death by his parents.
