Funeral services was Aug. 4 at Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater for Raymond Dale Thompson, age 85 of Clearwater, who died on Sun., July 30 at CentraCare Health, Monticello. Pastor Julie Anderson officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater.
Ray was born on October 12, 1931 in Hills, MN the son of Alvin and Margie (Nelson) Thompson. He grew up in Hills, MN where he attended school and graduated in 1949. He enlisted into the United States Army on February 20, 1951. He served his country during the Korean Conflict overseas stationed in Japan, and was Honorably Discharged on January 25, 1954.
He was united in marriage to Imogene Quinton on August 5, 1965 in Colorado. One son was born to this union. They lived a short time in Colorado before moving to Wright Co. living in St. Michael, Monticello and later Clearwater. This has been his home since that time. Ray worked for many years as an electrician for Northern States Power Company as a Journeyman Lineman retiring in 1993.
Ray was a man who loved socializing and sharing with people, as well as spending time with his son. But most importantly he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Going to church, praying, and reading the Bible were the foundation of his life.
He was a member of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Imogene in 1978, one brother Robert, and one sister Mary Ann.
He is survived by his son Lorne of Clearwater, two sisters, Norma and Bonnie, and one brother Rodney Thompson all of South Dakota, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
