A gathering in Melda’s memory will be from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, October 24 at Opstead Baptist Church in Isle. Melda I. Abfalter, age 59, passed away Monday at Mille Lacs Area Hospital in Onamia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

 

Melda was born Oct. 27, 1955 in Williamson, West Virginia to Glen & Janet (Bowe) Reed. She married Allen B. Abfalter on Nov. 3, 1979 in Virginia on a naval ship. Melda was a homemaker and lived in Isle since 1990. She enjoyed fishing, painting, puzzles, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

 

Survivors include her daughters and son, Venessa (Randall) Kemp of Palisade, Lynn (David) Tatro of St. Cloud, Irene Abfalter of Isle and Cory (Sheila) Abfalter of Clear Lake; sister and brothers, Georgia Arenz, Barry Reed, and Albert Reed all of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Rachel, Elizabeth, Zack, Devon, Jacob, Quinn, AvaMarie, and Allen; and great granddaughter, Lilliana. Melda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen on Dec. 2, 1992; and brothers, Gregory and Jerry Reed.
