Donna Louise Erickson (nee Meteraud), 77, of Big Lake, MN, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 12, 2023, after battling health complications and following major surgery, just six days after celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary. Despite enduring many years of health challenges, her quiet wit, spunky personality, and sunny disposition were special continuing gifts to everyone who knew, loved, or cared for her.
Donna’s deep generosity was especially expressed through her love for Christmas and the holiday season, thoughtfully selecting or creating just the right gift for each person, special mementoes that will be forever cherished.
Donna’s career spanned work in banking and retail, as well as devoting untold hours over seven years caring for her ill, widowed mother. She loved children, frequently caring for nieces, nephews, and the sons and daughters of many friends.
Her passing reunites her with her parents, John Edward and Ida Louise (Nelson) Meteraud, and six of her siblings – four sisters: Jean (Efaw), Patricia (Rep), Julie (Grimsrud), and Mary Daphne “Duffy” (Busch) – and two brothers, John and James Meteraud, and brother-in-law Van Erickson.
Donna was born in 1946 in Superior, WI, and graduated from Superior Central High School. She married Charles “Chuck” Erickson in 1973, moved to the Twin Cities in 1988, and to Big Lake, MN, in 1998.
She is survived by her loving husband; his sons Brian, Las Vegas, NV, and Steven, of Rochester, MN; brother Thomas Meteraud, Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law, Eileen Gilbertson, and Cynthia Moreau, both of Superior, WI, and Karen Erickson, Buhl, MN, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street N., St. Michael, MN, 55376, on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM. www.thepetersonchapel.com.
