Diane Matvick

A Celebration of Life for Diane Matvick, age 69 of Oak Park who died June 30, was July 6 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Ronneby. Rev. Barbara Peterson officiated. Service with Dignity provided by the Foley Funeral Home.
 
Diane Dorothy (Kuschel) Matvick was born in Little Falls on July 6. She was the second of four children born to Irvin and Delores (Dropps) Kuschel and grew up on a farm just outside of Dixville where she attended St. John's Lutheran Church. Diane graduated from Royalton High School. On Sept. 3, 1966 she was united in to marriage to Roman Matvick at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville. They were blessed with three children and lived in Sauk Rapids and Waite Park before making their permanent home in Oak Park. Diane worked in a variety of positions at the Foley Nursing Center for more than 25 years.
 
In 1987 she was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis. On July 20, 1994 she received the life-saving gift of a kidney from her sister, Betty. While Diane endured countless struggles with her health, her faith in the Lord and his promise of eternal life never wavered. May God rest her soul.
 
Diane was filled with grace, strength and courage. She had a deep love for her children and grandchildren and especially loved attending all of her grandchildren's activities. She was a 4-H leader, volunteered at the C.R.O.S.S. Center and was a member of her church council and the Foley American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
 
Diane was spirited! She enjoyed traveling, crafts and was an avid flower gardener. She was a friend to all, inspired many people and had a crazy sense of humor. 
 
Diane died at her home, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Roman and their three children; Todd (Karen) Matvick; Tara (Dale) Moeller and Trisha (Scott) Reiling all of Becker, 9 grandchildren; Tyler, Ashley, Zack, Elizabeth, Alayna, Abby, Megan, Sammy and Jake, mother, Delores Emerson of Foley and three siblings; Carol Gottwalt, Rice; Betty (Harold) Wyatt, Pierz and David (Birdie) Kuschel of Royalton.
 
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Corey, father, Irvin, sister-in-law, Gloria Auckland and brothers-in-law, Bill Matvick, Jerome Matvick and Joe Gottwalt.
