David Benjamin Lemire

David Benjamin Lemire, age 57 of Becker formerly of Gilbert and Duluth died Thurs., Aug. 3, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
 
David was born January 15, 1960 in Eveleth,  the son of Virgil and Eleanor (Hedberg) Lemire. He grew up and attended schools in Gilbert, graduating in 1978. He then attended motorcycle school in Arizona. He moved to Duluth and worked at a motorcycle shop in Canal Park and then attended the Lake Superior Vo-Tech where he learned to be a machinist. He took a job with the Remmele Company in Big Lake in 1985. He married Jeanne M. Goodlet of Bayfield, WI Nov. 30, 1985 in Duluth. They made their home in St. Cloud before he built their home in Becker. Dave worked for the Remmele Company for 32 years as a machinist and manufacturing engineer. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, cooking and grilling, and general cabin life on Hickory Lake. Dave had a great sense of humor and loved to share a cold beer with family and friends! Recently he especially enjoyed his role as “papa” to granddaughter Natalie.
 
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Lemire of Becker; Daughters: Kristen Lemire (Andy Coda) of Duluth, Danielle Lapos (Michael) of Fargo, N.D., Sarah Wingate (J.R.) of Duluth; Granddaughter: Natalie Lapos; Mother: Eleanor Lemire of Aitkin; Brothers: Jeff (Mary) Lemire of Alamogordo, NM; and Perry (Denise) Lemire of Duluth. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Keith and Lynnette Schillewaert and Ken Fry. He was preceded in death by his father Virgil, Sister: Cynthia “Cindy” Paakkonen.
 
A memorial service was Fri., Aug. 11 at St. James Catholic Church, Fr. David Forsman officiated. Visitation was at the church. Interment was in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Aitkin. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. www.srtfuneral.com.
