Daniel “Dan” J. Kleine, age 48 of Shakopee, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in Minneapolis.

Dan was born to Fred and Kathryn Kleine on June 7, 1974, in Monticello. He graduated from Becker High School in 1992 and then divided time between Mankato State University and the U of M – Crookston, where he played football. Dan met Leah Kleine in St. Cloud. They married and were blessed with two children, Lexi and Brayden, and they later separated. Later in life, he became certified as a phlebotomist and worked in the medical field, which was his passion.

Whether it was watching his beautiful daughter dance or watching his son follow in his footsteps and play football, Dan was a proud father and his children were the light of his life. He also enjoyed coaching his son in basketball and football. Dan was passionate about everything he loved, with a particular interest in sports, fitness, and body building. For the past few years, he also liked to spend time fishing on docks and other hidden fishing spots. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Dan is survived by his mother, Kathryn Kleine; children, Lexi and Brayden Kleine; former spouse, Leah Kleine; siblings, Carmel Kleine and Matt Kleine; nephews, Adam and Alex Hobbs; grandmother, Geraldine Smith; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Kleine; grandparents, Douglas Smith and Fred and Etta Kleine; and other relatives.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
