Memorial services celebrating the life of Billie C. Scherr, 67, of Clearwater will be 5 p.m. on Mon., August 15 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in Clearwater. Billie passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wed., Aug. 10 at the Monticello Hospital. Pastor Christina Fiske will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Military honors will be conducted by the Clearwater American Legion Post #323.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.
Billie was born on October 1, 1948 in Buffalo, Minnesota to Clarence and LaVerne (Holland) Scherr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Billie married Vicky Spiering on May 19, 1973 in Monticello. Billie was employed with various companies; with the three main ones being Tri-County Lumber, Hoglund Bus Company and Becker School District. He was a member of the American Legion.
Billie enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, yardwork, traveling, casino trips and above all treasured spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for drinking his beer with a straw.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughters, Pam Born of Monticello, Brenda Scherr of Clearwater; two grandchildren, Michael and Vanessa Born; beloved dog, Bobbi; siblings, Lois Ross of Big Lake, Darlene Stuve of Kimball, Judy (Leo) Lally of Remer, Shirley (William) Zachman of Rogers, Phyllis Stimpson of Big Lake, Lorri Scherr of Clearwater, Jeff (Terri) of Monticello, Bruce of Clearwater, Jesse of Clearwater; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Espelund; and nephews, John Ross and Corey Blesi.
