A group of local student ministries recently gathered at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Becker High School for the chance to experience the Small Town Worship Tour featuring Seventh Day Slumber and special guest Brooke Robertson.
The concert featured some original worship songs, but consisted mostly of modern-day Christian rock.
One of the evening’s highlights was the testimony shared by Seventh Day Slumber lead singer Joe Rojas, who told attendees about the abuse and abandonment of his childhood. It led to a $400 a day cocaine addition, numerous incarcerations and a battle with suicide.
Rojas testified to the hope and healing he found in Jesus and encouraged the crowd to walk hand-in-hand and step-by-step in a daily relationship with the Lord.
“This was really significant for us,” said Pastor Chris Salvevold from the Becker Evangelical Church. “There are so many teens struggling and he [Rojas] addressed that. It was pretty powerful.”
Salvevold said the second highlight on the evening was the local ministries uniting in the name and mission of Jesus and Rojas’ testimony.
The event was a united effort between seven churches from Becker and Clear Lake. Although specifically brought in for youth groups, the entire community was welcome to attend.
Salvevold extended a special thank you to Dylan’s Hope, the Clear Lake Lions and the local student ministries for collaborating on a night extending hope.
