The annual Becker Veterans Day Ceremony has been set for Mon., Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m. at Becker High School.
The robotics team will be hosting a breakfast that morning, starting at 8 a.m. in the commons. The wind ensemble and chamber choir will be performing as part of the event.
All veterans from all branches are encouraged to attend.
Guest speaker will be SFC Ryan Lodgaard who works fulltime for the Minnesota National Guard. The Becker Legion will be providing the colorguard for the event.
Of special note is this is the 100th anniversary of the American Legion, so Legionnaires are encouraged to attend and be recognized.
Of special musical note - the BHS bands will also be performing their fall concert Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the performing arts center. It Is free and open to the public, announces Craig Vogl of the school staff.
Veteran’s Concert
The St. Cloud State Wind Ensemble and Men’s Chorus will perform a Veterans Day Concert for the Central Minnesota community titled “Celebrate America! A Salute to Our Veterans” at 4 p.m. Nov. 11, in Ritsche Auditorium in Stewart Hall.
This concert features patriotic music for wind band and men’s chorus including combined works spanning the Revolutionary war area through Vietnam. The program includes several patriotic classics and veterans will be recognized with an Armed Forces medley. The program was developed in partnership with the Veterans Resource Center at St. Cloud State.
Concert emcee will be the Honorable Dave Kleis, Air Force veteran and Mayor of St. Cloud.
Admission is free. The concert follows the 1 p.m. Veterans Day Parade in downtown St. Cloud.
The St. Cloud State Wind Ensemble is a select group of 40 performers, mostly St. Cloud State music majors led by conductor Catharine Bushman. The St. Cloud State Men’s Chorus is an ensemble of 26 members led by conductor Hugh Givens.
