Annual township elections and meetings are scheduled for Tues., March 14 in Clear Lake, Haven, Becker, Palmer, Clearwater, Lynden and Santiago.
Becker Township
Becker’s annual township election and meeting will be held at Becker Twp. Hall, 12165 Hancock St., Tuesday, for the purpose of electing one (2) supervisors for the term of three years. Gary Hammer retired and his seat is being challenged by Jeff Lambert. Jamie Johnson has decided not to run in defense of his seat, so the seat is open for any write-ins.
Election hours will be 10 a.m.. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the township office opening 10-noon for absentee voting. The annual meeting will begin at 8:01 p.m. after the polls close to do any other business.
In the event of inclement weather, the annual election and meeting will be held the following Tuesday, March 21.
Palmer Township
Palmer’s annual meeting and election will be held, Tues., March 14 at Palmer Township Hall, 4180 105th Avenue in Clear Lake. The election poll hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in which the voters will elect one supervisor to fill the office for a three year term. Richard Larson currently holds the seat.
The annual meeting will start at 8:05 p.m. to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law. The board of canvass will immediately follow the annual meeting.
In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until the third Tuesday of March.
Santiago Township
Santiago’s annual meeting and election will be held, Tues., March 14 at Santiago Town Hall located at 16943 20th St. in Santiago. The election poll hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in which the voters will elect one supervisor to fill the office for a three year term and one treasurer for a two-year term.
The annual meeting will start at 8:01 p.m. to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law. The board of canvass will immediately follow the adjournment of the annual meeting.
In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until the third Tuesday of March.
Haven Township
Haven’s annual meeting will be held Tues., March 14 at Haven Township Hall, 4230 45th Ave. SE in St. Cloud.
The annual meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The 2018 budget and levy will be set, and there will be reports on the township’s finances, roads and bridges, and the fire dept.
In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed until Tues., March 21 at the same time.
Lynden Township
Lynden’s annual meeting and election will be held Tues., March 14 at Lynden Township Hall, 20517 Woodbine Dr. in Clearwater. Election hours are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. only. One supervisor (three-year term) and one treasurer position (two-year term) will be on the ballot.
Treasurer Dan Torgersen is running unopposed. Incumbent Supervisor Dave Johnson is running against Dennis Niemi.
The annual meeting will begin at 8 p.m. and will include decisions about legal newspaper notices, an update on the township’s finances, a report on fire dept. coverage, etc.
Clear Lake Township
Clear Lake’s annual meeting will be held Tues., March 14 at the Clear Lake Township Hall, 8580 Main Ave. in Clear Lake. Election hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at which time voters will elect one supervisor for a three-year term.
The annual meeting will begin at 8:05 p.m. and will include the treasurer’s report and reports on the park and roads. The 2018 levy will be set and the date for the Board of Appeal and Equalization will be given.
Chairman Gary Gray’s seat is up for election and he is running unopposed.
The board will conduct the board of canvass meeting immediately following the annual meeting.
Clearwater Township
Clearwater’s annual meeting will be held Tues., March 14 at Clearwater Township Hall, 5015 State Hwy. 24, in Clearwater.
The annual meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. The budget for general town revenue, road and bridge and fire protection will be discussed and voted on at the annual meeting.
In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed until Tues., March 15 at the same time.
