Township & Village Photo Exhibit coming to Sherburne History Center

Seventeen photographs, culled from the Sherburne County Historical Society’s photograph collection, are on exhibition at the Sherburne History center starting Sept. 23, 2025.

This exhibit shows a variety of photographs in the society’s archives collection, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, incorporating an image from each township and village in Sherburne County during this time interval. Townships included in the exhibit include: Baldwin, Becker, Big Lake, Blue Hill, Clear Lake, Elk River, Haven, Livonia, Orrock, Palmer, and Santiago. Villages included are: Becker, Big Lake, Clear Lake, Elk River, Zimmerman and Cable (an unincorporated community).

Later on in the 20th century, if the village had not already changed incorporation to that of a city, by Jan, 1, 1974 a Minnesota statute enacted that all remaining villages to be established as cities.

The exhibit runs until until Nov, 26, 2025.

The Sherburne History Center is located at 10775 27th Ave. SE, Becker, MN 55308 and specializes in the history of Sherburne County through museum exhibitions, a reference library, an archives and a Legacy Trail with historic structures. It is open Tuesday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Sherburne History Center is also currently showing the award winning exhibition: Life on the Edge.
