The Becker Middle School theatre department is in the midst of rehearsals for the upcoming musical The Little Mermaid, which opens in the auditorium at BHS at 7 p.m. Fri., March 14, with performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sat., March 15 and a closing matinee Sun., March 16 at 2 p.m.
The plot involves Ariel, a young mermaid daughter of Triton, King of the Sea, who longs for life on land with handsome Prince Eric. She makes a dark bargain with Ursula, the Sea Witch, who will place her on land legs, but with the command that she, who also now has no voice, must make the prince kiss her within three days, or she reverts to the sea as the witch’s slave.
Most of the major roles are being handled by the wily veteran actors from the eighth grade, such as Ellie Schwartz (Ariel); Evan Schafer (Prince Eric); Georgia Thom (Flounder); Alex DeVall (Sebastian”; Bryce Boser (King Triton), and Mary Goenner (Ursula).
Tickets will go on sale Mon., March 3 in the BHS activities office and the Middle School main office, prices TBA. All seats are general admission.
