Suspect arrested for assaulting officers

On October 2, at approximately 11:49 p.m., Big Lake officers responded to a disturbance at a local establishment where a male, Leo Snetsinger, 47 of Elk River, allegedly threw an alcohol shot into a female’s face. Officers arrived and observed Snetsinger as being very intoxicated.

While officers were interviewing witnesses about the incident, Snetsinger became verbally aggressive and would not listen to officer commands. Officers detained Snetsinger as he was getting loud, agitated, and disorderly. Snetsinger was placed in handcuffs and advised to sit on the bumper of the squad car.

Snetsinger told one officer he was going to head-butt him and charged at the officer. Officers attempted to control Snetsinger who kicked Officer Guy Chaffee in the left shin. Snetsinger continued to resist officers. While Snetsinger was being placed into the rear of the squad car, he kicked Sergeant Tom Kucala in the right knee.

Snetsinger continued to yell, scream, and kick the squad cage and windows. Snetsinger was transported to the Sherburne County Jail.

Snetsinger was charged by criminal complaint with; Gross Misdemeanor 4th Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, Gross Misdemeanor – Obstruct Legal Process.
