Recently, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a county resident who said he received a phone call from a caller who showed up on his caller ID as “Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.”
The caller mentioned to the citizen that he had a warrant out for his arrest and he needed to provide his credit card information to pay for the warrant.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Dept. advises if one is to receive a similar phone call, they are strongly urged to not provide any personal information to the caller and to hang up!
The Sheriff’s Office will never call a citizen at their home or work and ask for that person to make a payment over the phone with a credit card.
