Wednesday the Santiago Twp. Board held a discussion on what they should do with their retired fire truck. The township purchased a new fire engine a couple months ago after it was determined the old one wasn’t worth continuing to put money into because of its age.
After reviewing a number of different options to sell the truck, the board determined the best way to start with would be putting it on Facebook Marketplace and Craig’s list for $3,000.
The fire department’s new truck is ready to go and has already been out at a few car accidents.
Road Update
Supervisor Dave Jehoich informed the board they would most likely end up having to replace both culverts on Snake River Road; both are currently collapsing.
He asked John Herbst to provide an estimate for their replacement, as well as an estimate for brushing, to be ready for the annual meeting in March.
Park Report
The Santiago Lions have determined they need a larger storage container for all of their equipment and gambling materials and asked the board if it would be permissible for them to place a 40’ storage trailer/container on the back side of the ballfield. The new trailer would also be a better and more secure way to store their items.
The board saw no issue with the request and approved the trailer; it will be put into place in the spring.
Other Business
A quote for $200 was received for cleaning the town hall carpet, which was approved and will be completed next week.
