Santa draws crowd at the Barn

The 4th annual “Santa at the Barn” event drew large crowds last Saturday, as the volunteers at the Farm Friends Barn again pulled off on an amazing event.

Numerous light displays greeted the visitors as they entered the grounds, while inside were wonderfully decorated trees that had been donated by B&J Evergreen.

At the edge of the forest were Santa and Mrs. Claus, who eagerly greeted the many youngsters who came to make sure their lists were delivered right to the man and woman in charge of delivering the Christmas gifts.

Visitors came from across the area and as far away as Canada to see Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, as he and Mrs. Claus were busy handing out treat bags to all the children.

Outside, the weather was certainly cooperative, with temperatures in the upper 30’s allowing for families to mingle and await their turn for a ride on the lighted, horse-drawn sleigh from RJ’s Stables.  Nutrien Ag Solutions sponsored the rides, which were originally scheduled for the first ever Santa event four years ago but had to be canceled because of -30 degree weather that year.

Christmas carols could be heard as the sleigh meandered down 27th Ave. before returning to pick up the next crowd of riders.
