Nothing To Lose But The Weight

As is the case for many, many people, losing weight and keeping it off can be a daunting challenge.

Fitness gyms keep popping up on almost every city block, fad diets and exercise gadgets get splashed across our TV screens and fitness trainers write books and produce videos demonstrating the incredible results one can achieve if their programs are followed to a “T”.

We’ve also all seen the before-and-after pictures, but it’s always made me wonder  - can any of it be believed?

That’s where this column comes into effect. My wife Terri and I are, of course, interested in losing some weight and feeling better in our clothes. But mostly, we are interested in getting healthy physically through nutrition and exercise as we head into our late 40s and 50s. We’ve looked into the numerous weight-loss and body-shaping programs out there and basically narrowed our search down to just a few. Then, after attending a seminar held last weekend by a woman of character I admire, we decided to embark on our healthy living journey with Inspired Fitness, Isagenix and Kristy Youngdahl.

In this column over the next few weeks, I plan to document our progress, our struggles, our delights and our disappointments as we undertake Youngdahl’s 30-Day Isagenix Challenge. The plan is to post both mine and Terri’s weight-loss and healthy living “diaries” each week with the hopes our journey will reveal truths about this particular weight-loss program and in the end, give an honest reprisal of the excursion  - both good and bad.

By the way, I advised Youngdahl of this column and told her I plan to document everything and be truthful in my reporting of this particular program.

She didn’t even bat an eye and in fact, told me she was looking forward to assessment.

As of this writing, Terri and I have yet to receive our 30-Day Isagenix weight-loss kits (should arrive any day now), but each kit generally contains IsaLean shakes, Ionix Supreme, snacks, accelerators, IsaFlush, energy sticks, a system guide and a “cleanse and replenish” audio CD.

I’ll better identify each product we receive in our kits and what they are used for in next week’s column.

We’ve got nothing to lose, right?
