M&M Precision Machining breaks ground on new facility

On a chilly, windy, and overcast Friday afternoon on Nov. 7, M&M Precision Machining owners Matt and Mike James were joined by representatives from the City of Big Lake and Mendota Heights-based R. J. Ryan Construction Inc. to break ground for their new 60,000 sq. ft.  headquarters and manufacturing facility.

Currently located in Elk River, M&M has begun to outgrow their current facility.  Their move to Big Lake should accommodate for any current and future growth.  Matt James explained that the new building will be 2.8 times bigger than the current building.  He hopes the project will wrap up next summer, in June of 2026.  He believes that within the first year of operations, M&M will have brought 20 new skilled jobs to Big Lake paying an average of $25 an hour.

Job growth was a part of the agreement to purchase the land from Big Lake and Big Lake Township.  Land, valued at $244,500, would be sold for $1.00 to Jabro Big Lake LLC in order to develop the M&M facility.  M&M agreed to meet the following employment goal: create at least 16 new full-time jobs at an hourly rate of at least $15 per hour for a period of one year.

The new facility is located at 20174 177th St. NW in Big Lake.
