A Becker High School junior died in a car accident Monday morning.

 

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Dept. said Anthony Richard Nelson, 17, was killed after Nelson’s car struck a tree at 15301 140th Ave. SE (near the Vonco II Demolition and Landfill) about 8:30 a.m.

 

Six units from the sheriff’s department and one state patrol arrived at the scene within seven minutes of the call. Members of the bureau of investigation were on the scene for over three hours and determined it was a single car accident with no other vehicles involved.

 

Nelson played football and basketball for the Becker Bulldogs and enjoyed going to the community center to work out. He was the son of Nicholas and Rachel Nelson and had two brothers, Jake and Ryan.

 

Nelson’s visitation was Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the funeral service scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m., both at Grace Lutheran Church in Becker.
