Friends of the Becker Library grant update

The Friends of the Becker Library recently received a grant from the Central Minnesota Library Exchange to purchase furniture and shelving for the library.

The library has now purchased the second half of the grant’s items including heavy wooden chairs to replace plastic ones, an additional heavy wooden chair with arms, and two large shelving units for large print books.

The library has always been a wonderful resource for the community. One can find a helpful, welcoming staff, comfortable seating to relax and read, and many opportunities for all ages to participate in a variety of activities and programs.

The Friends of the Becker Library meet regularly on the second Monday of each month in the senior area of the Community Center at 4 p.m. They welcome new members who value the library’s importance to the community and want an opportunity to assist in its programs. Check them out and see if this might be something one would enjoy.

One of the ways the Friends of the Becker Library raises money is by hosting book sales at least twice a year. Their next book sale is in the Community Center on Thurs., Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
