Saturday afternoon, a plaque dedication ceremony was held at Frank Kolbinger Jr. Veterans Memorial Park.
His four surviving daughters and their families were on hand to unveil the plaque, which contains his photo and a narrative of his incredible life including details on how he earned his Purple Heart medal.
Future visitors to the park will now be able to read the story about of one of Becker’s World War II Veterans.
The National Anthem was played as the women hoisted Old Glory for the first time on the new flagpole, which was donated by the Becker Lions Club.
Dozens of community members, including many area Scouts and their Scoutmasters, showed up for the patriotic ceremony.
The occasion also kicked off a local campaign to have a new potential post office in the Becker community named after Kolbinger, who served as the Postmaster of 55308 throughout most of the 1960’s and 1970’s.
