Dozens turn out for pet vaccinations, nitrate testing

Last weekend at Big Lake Lions Park, Big Lake City and Township residents turned out in the name of community health to vaccinate their dogs and test their drinking water.

For many years, Big Lake has held an annual dog vaccination clinc. Veterinarians from Barrington Oaks animal hospital were on hand at Lions Park to vaccinate the pooches for a low cost. Vaccinations available included rabies, Canine DHPP, and Canine Lymes.

New last year and continuing this year, Big Lake residents could also bring in a sample of their tap water to test for nitrates, courtesy of Sherburne County.

The event was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
