Clearwater Township began 2017 with its organizational meeting Jan. 3.
Supervisors Bill Langenbacher and Rose Thelen were sworn in after being elected to the board in November.
The first order of business was electing the board chair. Dan Mol, who decided not to run last year, was chair for his last two terms.
Supervisor Scott Miller was voted in as chair, with Langenbacher the vice chair.
The board voted to continue holding the regular monthly meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. The alternate day in case of a holiday or weather will be the third Monday of the month.
The annual township meeting will continue to be held the second Tuesday in Match at 7:30 p.m.
The township’s official newspaper for public notices will continue to be the Citizen-Tribune. The location for posting notices is Clearwater Township Hall and the township’s website.
The township’s accounts will continue to be deposited with Lake Central Bank (Annandale Sate Bank.)
The law firm of Couri, MacArthur, Ruppe has been retained for township business as needed.
Salaries & Wages
There was discussion about wages and expenses for township staff and supervisors. The board voted to keep the allowance for supervisors at $60 for the first four hours, plus $15 per hour for each additional hour. Supervisors’ wages remain at $100 per month. The board chair receives $150 per month.
The treasurer’s salary remains at $900 per year and $60 per meeting.
After a motion to keep the clerk’s wages the same failed, the board voted to increase the clerk’s wages 5% to $21 per hour, plus a $200 per month stipend.
The deputy clerk and deputy treasurer’s wages were increased 5% to $18.90 per hour.
The maintenance supervisor’s wages were also increased 5% to $34.65 per hour. Part-time road maintenance worker’s pay remains at $25 per hour for snow plowing and $20 per hour for all other duties.
The town hall maintenance worker’s wages were increased 5% to $18.90 per hour.
Election judges wages remain the same at $15 per hour and $20 per hour for head election judge.
Other Business
At its December meeting, the board approved a two-year assessment services agreement with Wright County. Under the contact, the township will be charged $11.50 per parcel in 2018 and $12 per parcel in 2019.
The board also certified the township’s road mileage at 35.68 miles.
The next regular township meeting is Monday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The annual meeting is Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30.
