County Busy With Zoning Requests

 
It was a busy day for zoning issues at the Sherburne County Board meeting Tuesday.
 
Commissioners voted to approve six different zoning requests throughout the county and a site cleanup agreement. 
 
The board approved an interim use permit (IUP) for David and Carla Mertz for rural tourism on a 10-acre parcel in Baldwin Twp. The IUP allows the applicants to host weddings, social events and other celebrations from May 1 through Nov. 1.
 
The board approved a request by Judy Abrahamson for the preliminary and final residential simple plat of Abrahamson Acres, consisting of one lot with an existing residence on 7.65 acres on 17th Street SE in Santiago Twp.
 
The board approved a request by Stephen and Dianne Smith Family Trust for the preliminary and final residential simple Plat of Hugh E. Craig Estates, consisting of three lots on 17.03 acres on Co. Rd.4 and Co. Rd. 75 in Orrock Twp. 
 
The board approved a request by Family One Homes for the Preliminary Residential Standard Plat of Misty Hollow, consisting of 10 lotson 41.96 acres at 134th Street and 283rd Ave. in Baldwin Twp.
 
The board approved a request by Sarah Cook for an IUP for a home business in an accessory building. Cook will be operating a dog/cat grooming business in an accessory building on her 2.5-acre property on 104th Street in Livonia Twp.
 
Site Cleanup
 
The board approved a contract with Carrie Edberg for the cleanup and removal of the remains of an old foundation of a home that was burned in 1983 on her property in Zimmerman.
 
Solid Waste Administrator Dave Lucas said Edberg discovered a sinkhole on the property that was due to the deterioration of debris under the county’s non­permitted site cleanup program cost-share policy, the county will pay approximately 83% of the cost ($9.570). The property owner will pay the contractor the balance of $1,960.
 
Committee Appointments
 
In other action, the board approved the following appointments to the Metro Emergency Services Board Committees:  Executive Committee - ­ Commissioner Felix Schmiesing (delegate) and Sheriff Joel Brott (alternate); 9­1­1 Technical Operations Committee - ­ Dispatch Supervisor Laura Anderson (delegate) and Dispatch Supervisor Lori Morgan (alternate); EMS Technical Operations Committee -­ Dispatch Supervisor Lori Morgan (delegate) and Dispatch Supervisor Laura Anderson (alternate); Radio Technical Operations Committee -­ Emergency Services Director Kyle Breffle (delegate) and Emergency Services Deputy Director Derek Baas (alternate).
