During their February meeting, the Clearwater Twp. Board of Supervisors reviewed their proposed road projects planning and resident notification procedure.
The first draft was introduced during the township’s December meeting, after which Clerk Jean Just made the changes that were discussed. The plan lists criteria to determine road projects, annual road review and road project plan, and posting and notification of road projects.
After further discussion on what constitutes road maintenance and what constitutes new projects, a motion passed approving the procedure with one amendment. Under notification, “special meetings should be called as a means to inform residents of major road projects” was revised to “special meetings may be called if needed to inform residents of major road projects.”
Annual Meeting
The board discussed the upcoming annual meeting on March 8, including items they would like to be highlighted during it. A decision was made to move the township’s regular March meeting from March 9 to March 2 so the board will be able to finalize agenda items beforehand.
One of the more important items to present will be possible upcoming short range and long range road projects. Due to the rising costs of oil, Mike Ludenia will ask Astech to provide a projected cost increase over what the township has been paying for the last couple of years.
Other Business
Ludenia presented the road maintenance report, stating quotes for gravel hauling and chip seal projects will be released at the upcoming March meeting, to be opened during April’s meeting.
Just presented the new Telecom phone service proposal to the board; Frontier will continue to provide the township’s internet. The new service will cost the township close to $40 less than is currently being paid.
Mike Keller was introduced as the new Clearwater Fire Chief at the recent Fire Commission meeting. It was noted the department is still in need of more volunteer firefighters.
Spring Cleanup Day will be on May 21.
The audit meeting will be on February 23 at 10:30 a.m.
The next Clearwater Twp. meeting will be March 2 at 7:30.
