Clear Lake Woman Wins Social Work Award

Carol Payne, a Licensed Social Worker from Clear Lake, has been selected by the Association of Social Work Boards to receive the 2021 Sunny Andrews Award for Outstanding Commitment to Social Work Regulatory Board Service. She will receive the award Nov. 20, 2021, when she will be honored during the ASWB Annual Meeting of the Delegate Assembly.

Payne has served as a member of the Minnesota Board of Social Work for 12 years, finishing her final term this year. She was appointed to the regulatory board in 2009 and served as board chair from 2016 to 2018, vice chair from 2014 to 2016, and secretary/treasurer from 2012 to 2014.

The criteria for the award include:

• Upholding the integrity of a member board’s functioning and processes;

• Enforcing the ethical performance of a member board;

• Giving selflessly of personal time and effort to support the work of a member board.

The award is named for a past president of the association. It is given annually by ASWB to a volunteer member of a social work regulatory board.
