Eleven Becker High School band members and 11 choir members attended the Granite Ridge Honors Festival, Jan. 7 at St. Cloud State University.
Each Granite Ridge High School selects their top instrumentalists and vocalists to sing or play in these elite performing groups.
Bruce Phelps, founder of the Northern Lights Chorale and retired choral director from Anoka High school, worked with the choir and Phillip Richardson, who is in his 27th year directing bands at
Mounds View High School, worked with the band.
After a rigorous and enthusiastic day of rehearsals, the band and choir held a performance at 5 p.m. at Ritchie Auditorium on the campus of St. Cloud State University.
Members of the choir include Bridget Buchholz, Sarenity Klein, Mikayla Hiltner, Emily Krogstad, Rachael Tauer, Laura Niday, Hunter Voulgarakis, Justin Kimmerle, Tyler Wasserbauer, William Schendel and Brandon Olson.
Members of the band include Charles Gerold, Grace Brown, Erika Soyring, Sierra Vilmo, Kaitlyn Woehrle, William Kluge, Ethan Quill, Evan Schafer, Abby Steffens, Heidi Voigt and Allyna Storms.
Gretchen Bordson is the Becker HS choir director and Craig Vogl is the band director.
