Big Lake Legion hoists flags on Nov. 11

On a cold, blustery Veteran’s Day morning, Big Lake Legion members gathered with other veterans, city officials and community members to raise flags of the armed forces at the Big Lake War Memorial at the intersection of Hwy.’s 10 and 25.

Big Lake Legion members from each branch of the military stood with their flags and precisely at sunrise, marched ahead four steps and inserted the flag poles in the flag holders in the ground surrounding the main monument. Two wreaths were then hung below two flags and a salute and pledge were given by all attending.

Veterans and members of Big Lake’s Police Dept., Big Lake’s American Legion Post, Big Lake’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and patriots from community participated.
