Bhs Choirs Perform “A Holiday Concert”

The Becker High School choirs served up a full menu of Christmas music in a concert program titled “A Holiday Concert” in the school auditorium Monday night.  The multi-choir program was directed by Gretchen Bordson and Kristi Lovold, accompanied on the piano by Becker graduate Kristina Roe.

The program began with two numbers by the swing choirs, What Christmas Means to Me, and All I Want for Christmas is You, with choreography by Brianna Baumgartner and a solo from Megan Graftaas.  The ninth-grade choir then took stage to perform Here We Come a Wassailing, When Love Came Down and Sleigh Ride, with percussion by Ethan Quill and Brandon Abrahamson.

The tenth-grade choir then rendered four diverse seasonal songs, including Ding Dong Merrily on High, Calypso Gloria (Isaac Popp, accompanist, Katelyn Holstad, cabasa and Caleb Foster, claves), I’ll Be Home for Christmas (Jacob Liestman, bass), Jingle Bells and closed their set with the Carol of the Bells.
The concert choir was up next, performing The Twelve Days of Christmas, Jingle Bells and Grown-Up Christmas List, (Solos: Lindsey Baloun, Brianne Jelinek and Caleb Vekved).

Closing out the individual choir performances was the chamber choir with a three-song program that included Noel, (Solos: Matt nelson, Andy Johnson, Nick Norgaard, Zach Woolhouse and Josh Drury; Percussion: Joe Perry, Andy Johnson and Kalley Jackson).  The group then performed The Christmas Song (Solos: Tanner Stewart, Carolyn Schneider and Aidan Christensen), and closed their performance with Deck the Halls.

The performance concluded with a combined choirs performance of Night of Silence, accompanied by Mari Liestman, violin, Alexandra Kimmerle, cello, Paige Roesler and Kris McLaughlin, flute and Matt Nelson, clarinet.
