Becker To Host The Cat’s Pajamas

An evening of “high energy” music is on tap for area residents next week as Becker High School plays host to The Cat’s Pajamas, an all-male “a capella” singing group based in Branson, MO that will be performing here as part of their seventh-annual “Music in the Schools” tour, reports BHS choir director Gretchen Bordson.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. Thurs., March 6 in the BHS auditorium, Bordson said, with tickets available in the BHS Activities Office, $10 for adults and $8 for students.

The Cat’s Pajamas have been in the national spotlight recently, Bordson said, having appeared on the NBC hit show The Sing-Off: Season Three, and have appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and other nationally-broadcast variety programs.  And when not performing at Branson, the group regularly appears as guest entertainers on board the ships of the Norwegian Cruise Lines.

In addition to their evening performances, the group conducts student choral clinics and offers performances to school assemblies as part of their efforts to raise funds for music programs.  To date, the “Pajamas” have raised more than $70,000 for school music programs around the country, Bordson said.

The performance will include pop classic songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, as well as covers of contemporary hits from artists such as Jason Mraz and Michael Buble, a mix designed to keep audiences of all ages laughing, singing and even dancing throughout the performance.
