An 87-year-old  Becker man was killed as a result of a two-vehicle collision Monday morning at Sherburne Ave. and Edgewood Street. 

 

Leslie Rodger Torkkola, Becker, was driving a vehicle involved in the crash. He died at the scene. 

 

An initial investigation reveals Torkkola's vehicle had pulled out from Edgewood Street onto Sherburne Ave. and then was struck in the driver side by a vehicle southbound on Sherburne Ave. 

 

The driver of the second vehicle, not identified, was seen by ambulance personnel and re­leased at the scene. Time of the accident was 5:25 a.m. 

 

The Ramsey County Medical Ex­aminer's office was called in to conduct an autopsy in the case. Alcohol was not suspected or a factor in this inci­dent, reports the Becker Police Dept. 

 

The intersection in Becker was closed for nearly three hours while the acci­dent was investi­gated. 

 

The Becker police were assisted by the State Patrol and county sheriff’s personnel. Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the Becker Police Dept. at 763-200-4267
