Barktoberfest Can’t be Licked!

Saturday, the City of Becker held their annual Barktoberfest at City Park to the delight of many dogs and their masters. Kids, adults, vendors and curious guests all had a howling good time at the ever-popular Barktober Festival.

The three hour event featured pet and kid parades, costume contests, crafts, games, activities and numerous pet-related vendor booths. There were also concessions and food trucks in the park as well.

Some kids and dogs donned their Halloween costumes with a shot at prizes and praise. A laser tag game was offered as a fun activity as well as a couple bouncy castle blow-ups. Vendors had dog leashes, bandanas, harnesses, treats and chew toys available for purchase and as giveaways.

Dog owners were asked to ensure their pets had up-to-date vaccinations (hmmm, sounds familiar) and that they are socially comfortable around other dogs, children and adults as they entered the park. The city has a dog-designated park to the north that owners could utilize to give their pets their daily exercise in a safe environment.

Goodie bags were handed out that were sponsored by the Becker Lions Club. Face painitng was alaos avialable as well as a balloon artist and corn hole games. Music was played throughout the day and many people took advantage of a photo booth where they could get a quick picture taken of them, their families and their dogs.

The event ran for four hours and was free to the public. The event is held with the support of the Becker Community Center and the Becker Parks and Recreation committees.
