To The Editor

Thank you Mr. Morgan for your timely and factual article about Pebble Creek. I would like to "piggy back" on your paragraph mentioning that PC hosts both Becker and Big Lake school teams and give examples of the many ways Pebble serves the youth in our communities.

In the days from April 9 to 17 Pebble Creek hosted the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Invitational (MIAC) on the 9th and 10th. The Big Lake girls high school team hosted their invitational on the 12th, the Becker boys hosted their invitational on the 13th, the Becker girls hosted their invitational on the 14th on the Red and White course while Big Lake had a junior high meet on the Local Nine and these were followed by the MIAC women's invitational on the 16th and 17th. Thus, in this nine day stretch, PC hosted six meets and over 400 young people!

Of course not every week is that busy, but PC does host additional meets on a regular basis and  has and will again this year host the single A State High School Championship Meet, which brings hundreds of youth and spectators from every corner of Minnesota.

Pebble Creek serves our area youth with summer leagues and lessons starting at age six and some years, in the recent past, we have had over 100 kids involved in the Tuesday leagues and Friday lessons.

This year Pebble is starting a supervised junior foot golf league on Tuesday mornings.  Pebble has often hosted summer Junior PGA tournaments and has for 10 years hosted the Fellowship of Christian Athletes three and four day golf camps which have attracted players from as far away as Texas!

It is also significant to note that PC men's and women's clubs have donated hundreds of slightly used clubs to our youth, so that any young person in lessons or leagues without clubs will be given a starter set of clubs and golf balls free of charge.  Troy Malo, our course manager, has allowed the Primary and Intermediate schools to use his own personal SNAG (starting new at golf) equipment so that the Becker PE teachers can start our K-5 students off in this great activity. PC also hires a good number of our young people to work in the pro shop and maintenance departments each year.

I wish I could tell you how many young people, coaches and parents have said, "You are so lucky to have Pebble Creek". I can only say, "I agree".
