TO THE EDITOR:
The City of Big Lake Public Works has in recent years performed the street sweeping of Jefferson Blvd (Hwy. 10) during spring road work.As I don’t have an issue with this arrangement, I feel we do it better. My questions are as follows...1). How is the city financially compensated for public works manpower? 2). Is the city compensated for use of street sweeping equipment? 3). Is the city compensated for the needed post sweeping maintenance of street sweeping machine? My issue is the lack of common sense of both MnDOT and Big Lake public works. Why are the sidewalks, grass areas on both sides of Jefferson Blvd. not swept into the gutters prior to the street sweeping?? The sidewalks are caked with winter sand and the grass areas along the Blvd. have broken taillights, cans, bottles, paper and piles of sand. And remain as such.
