Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:
Attention conservative voters! The boondoggle in Washington, DC, has settled down – it is time to concentrate on what goes here at home.
It is time to show the world that this state is not just controlled by the three metro areas of – MPLS/STP, Rochester, and Duluth.  It is time to show the world that the heart of this state is Conservative.  It is time for the demise of the DFL stranglehold.
The Democrats always brag about their great leaders that have come from this state, we all know about them.  But, now it is time to show everyone that there are other great leaders here, too.
They go by the names of, Jeff Johnson, Doug Wardlow, Karin Housley, Tom Emmer, John Howe, and many of the other Republican candidates running in the districts across the state.  But, for us here in the central part of the State, we have two neighbors that need our every bit of support.
They are my neighbors and I am proud to throw my support to them – Jim Newberger and Shane Mekeland, both of whom are from District 15B.  Get out and vote!  It is time to turn Minnesota red!
Michael Keigan,
Becker, MN.

TO THE EDITOR:
This election season is an important one for the city of Becker. Since the previous election in 2016 many residents and business owners have voiced their displeasure with the city council for what has been viewed as either questionable or self serving decisions. The result has been little, if any, growth and higher property taxes and a controversial reorganization at city hall that upset many residents by the way it was handled. They are decisions we all pay for more than just monetarily but also in terms of trust.
Incumbent city council candidate Rick Hendrickson voted with the council unanimously for the "re-organization" that cost department heads their jobs while the city administrator, who had oversight over the city departments, kept his position and his salary while not fulfilling his job description. Where is the accountability? Former city council member, and current candidate, Lynette Brannan had an opportunity to serve on the council and was not re-elected in 2014. She had her chance.
Vote for a change and reorganization of the city council and elect individuals that want to work for you. Vote for Dennis Rzeszotarski, Dennis Carlson or Troy Cox and restore trust and accountability.
Adam Maskowski,
Becker, MN.

TO THE EDITOR:
I want to thank all of the nice people on the Judy Bowatz bus trip to Boston for their kindness, compassion and generosity. I raffled off three of my framed prints. The purpose of the raffle was to raise funds for students in need at the Becker Middle School.
The people on the bus responded by opening up their hearts as well as their pocket books. A total of four hundred dollars was raised, and every penny went to the students in need. Again my many thanks to all.
Rick Speer,
Becker, MN.
